Monkey Painter (1977-2007) ©2022
Monkey Painter is a story I wrote over the first Covid year. I quit painting 15 years ago, and when people asked me why I said I could write a book about it.
I posted it daily on Instagram, scanning old slides of my work and writing as I went.
I spent the following year cleaning the text up and formatting it as a book. It was shown as a slide dissolve on a flat screen tv in a group show curated by Pan Wendt, RE:visiting, at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery, in Charlottetown, PEI, during the summer of 2022.
Since then it has been included in the collections and archives of: the Confederation Centre, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Halifax, The Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery in Vancouver, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Gardens in Washington, DC.
